Weighing Machine The number one rule for a flat stomach is something that is seen on ever banner advertisement on every website, so it seems. These ads claim one trick or tip to instant fat loss. But what are they all on about? Is there one trick to fat loss?

Unless this one trick is to pick up a decent fat burning program and follow the program to the letter, I can’t really see one simple tip helping fat loss that much. However here is what I consider to be the “one major tip” to burning fat.

Bruce Lee himself said that nutrition is the key to getting and maintaining a tight waistline.

If there is one individual in history with a fabulous figure, it was Bruce Lee. He is still held in honor by many bodybuilders today as having one of the best physiques ever. If keeping an eye on our nutrition was good enough for him, it should be good enough for the rest of us!

This was a man who worked out constantly, doing everything from free weights to interval training, body weight exercises to full contact fighting. And he STILL claims that nutrition is important after doing a full days workout, every day. Now that is something to think about.

Recently I have been trying a new way of eating. A little more restrictive than normal. But after being pretty casual about my dietary habits and lifting weights for a while, I have decided to cut down body fat % again. I was interested in bulking up for some time, however now I am going to cut back. I am following a diet called the Cyclical Ketogenic Diet. Read the full diet/workout plan here. Now I have modified it slightly to fit my lifestyle, but part of a new diet or workout is that you adjust to suit, without compromising it.

I am attempting a major loss of fat from my body and have taken a before shot (I am terrible with cameras) and will take an after shot in 30 days and post them up in a blog post. I have been undertaking a bit of a bulk up for a couple of months by eating a lot and lifting heavy, but I have decided I want the cut six pack look back instead of bulking any more.

Until next time, I hope I am discovering something worthwhile to share with you and see you progress with me!

At least you are asking this question! I have worked out at my own home, gyms, other peoples home gyms, hotels, motels and Holiday Inns!

Each has their own little quirks, pros and cons. It is quite a major decision you will have to make as you embark on your crusade for mental and physical fitness and getting in the bets shape of your life. Let me give you my opinion and you can make your own judgement on what you are going to do..

::::

Home Gym – Pros

  • You can pay once for your equipment and then never pay again
  • Your own music to workout to – no more bending the barbell to Patsy Cline
  • Nor more distractions – you can’t make excuses to not go to the gym
  • 24/7
  • Get your family into working out too

Gym Pros

  • Trainers to help you out
  • No cleaning up
  • Competition (this is a big part I will talk about soon)
  • Meeting like minded people
  • Endless equipment choices
  • Potential to meet future partner who is in great shape!

Each choice has equal and opposite pros and cons, but in the end the choice is up to you.

My advice would be for you to go to a gym until you feel very confident that you are performing all of your workouts with a barbell and dumbbells in the correct form and have progressed significantly in weight. This is just because you don’t have the benefit of somebody pointing out wrong and potentially harmful technique.

I still go to the gym sometimes as I am in the process of making a home gym at my place. The only equipment I have are dumbbells, a barbell, weight plates and a set up that enables me to do squats and bench press etc safely.

I have a boxing bag out in the back yard and use that often for a good ol’ sweat breaker before, after or as a complete workout.

If you do decide to go down the route of a home gym, keep it simple and just learn how to use a dumbbell, barbells and maybe a medicine ball for burpees, press ups and some ab workouts. Play some loud music, record your progress and show those plates of iron who is boss!

Until next time, check out the fitness club house and kick butt somewhere!

Nothing gets the fat melting like good hard interval training.

Interval training is something everybody should have in their workout plans. It is more efficient that typical cardio because it is far faster, it is more effective because it makes you work harder and faster causing more muscle breakdown, which increases metabolism, which burns fat :D

Now that you are positive Interval Training (or High Intensity Interval Training) is the key to fat loss, let me explain what it is.

HIIT is when you are alternating between periods of intense exercise and slow exercise with no breaks. For example, instead of going for a monotonous old run like every other joker does, try having a blast at HIIT next time you strap on your jogging shoes. This is exactly how I do it:

  1. I pick a spot where there will be nobody around. My favorite is at a school nearby that has a 400 meter running track.
  2. Hit the spot you have determined is best for your activity. I use this school because I sprint the 100 meters.
  3. After you have stretched, go for a light jog for a couple of hundred meters at alternating paces and stretch your legs. Fling them up high and down low just to make sure that you are ready as you don’t want a busted muscle or bone.
  4. Sprint the 100 meters as hard as your poor body can. Go all out. You might feel like you are going to face plant or slip backwards, but keep going. The idea is to sprint like an absolute mad man.
  5. After you cross the finish line (it can be 100, 200, 300 meters, you choose) then you lower the pace right down to a light jog. I will do a light jog back to the start of the 100 meter track, then sprint again.

When I am doing this, I like to plan out in my head how many sprints I will do BEFORE I get to the track. If I leave it till I feel buggered, then I am probably going to throw in the towel at 3 sprints, instead of 10.

There is a whole lot about intense interval training in the free fat loss and six pack abs course that is available for absolutely nothing from my website.

Until next time, sprint like Usain Bolt on Meth gettin’ chased by his Momma around Jamaica
